Hendo’s Barrel House officially opens in Temecula on Saturday, May 31

It has taken Olympic wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter Dan Henderson six years to open a brewpub and steakhouse in Temecula, but now that he’s there he called the results “quite a bit more awesome than I expected.” Hendo’s Barrel House is actually much more. It includes a steakhouse, brewery, distillery, coffee bar, fresh juice bar and butcher shop. It will officially open Saturday, May 31. On top of it all, there will be concerts by a couple of Henderson’s country music friends on opening weekend. 5 places to enjoy rooftop dining in the Inland Empire The grand opening will kick off at 11 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Temecula Mayor Brenden Kalfus. Tyler Farr, known for “Redneck Crazy” and Whiskey in My Water,” will perform at 7 p.m. Michael Ray, whose hits include “Whiskey and Rain,” will perform at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 1. The concerts are free but space is limited and fans should arrive early, according to a news release. In a phone interview, Henderson said he started working on Hendo’s six years ago but that the project was slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Born in Downey and raised in Apple Valley, he said he has lived in southwest Riverside County since 2001. He competed in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. After that, he became a pro wrestler and MMA fighter; he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018. Hendo’s is addition to Dan Henderson’s Athletic Fitness Center, which has been open for several years and holds MMA Fight Nights. The next one is Aug. 9. Hendo’s is at 27901 Jefferson Ave., Temecula.
