Horror as woman's body found tied underwater by concrete dumbbells at Thai tourist spot
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
A woman's body has been discovered chained by the neck and weighed down underwater by two concrete dumbbells at a popular fishing spot in Thailand. Locals were horrified to see the body floating near the Ban Tha Yai pier in Phang Nga on Friday. Shocked witnesses immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene along with rescue workers. The identity, nationality, and address of the victim remain unknown as a murder probe is underway. She is believed to have been wearing grey shorts and a brown round-neck T-shirt, according to local reports. Officers estimate she had been dead for about two days before her body emerged from the murky water. One of the most unsettling details of this tragic incident is the heavy chain found tightly wrapped around her neck, attached to two concrete dumbbells. It's suspected that this was an attempt to keep her concealed beneath the water. Despite these efforts, the body eventually floated to shore, where shocked residents made the grim discovery, reports the Mirror . Police have sent the body for a full post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death – and whether she was still alive when dumped in the water. CCTV footage from the pier and surrounding waterways is now being scrutinised for any clues, while local leaders have been asked to check for any missing persons who match her description. Police lieutenant Pheerawit Chaichanyut issued a statement, saying: "This is a serious case, and we are treating it as a possible murder. The way the body was weighted down points towards an attempt to conceal it." Anyone who might have seen anything suspicious near Ban Tha Yai pier recently is being urged to get in touch with the police immediately. It's not the only gruesome find in the country of late, with another woman's body found stuffed in a locked suitcase, weighed down with dumbbells, bobbing about near a golf course in Rayong. The chilling similarity between this and the Tah Yai case has cast a dark cloud over the region, prompting the police to kick off a full-blown murder investigation. Elsewhere, in Pathum Thani, an unsuspecting angler reeled in what he thought was a massive fish - only to discover a decomposed corpse. And in another chilling incident on the Chao Phraya River, a fisherman's line snagged a man's body at Nonthaburi Pier, turning an ordinary night's fishing into a nightmare.
