Mike Tindall has humorously recounted how he "got one over" on his royal mother-in-law, Princess Anne, after she told him to "move on" at a rugby match between Scotland and England. The Gloucester rugby icon married into the Royal Family, much like Kate Middleton and the late Princess Diana. He wedded Zara Phillips in 2011 having received the blessing of Queen Elizabeth II earlier that year. The couple's nuptials took place at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh come July. At the time of his marriage, Tindall was still notching up games for both club and country in rugby, proudly captaining the England squad. His tenure with Gloucester ran from 2005 until 2014, where he clocked a hefty 75 caps for England and made 181 showings for Gloucester. Recalling a particular clash against Scotland at Twickenham, he recently revealed an interaction with Princess Anne. Princess Anne, who became patron of the Scottish Rugby Union back in 1986, is known for her steadfast support of Scotland's rugby team over the decades. During matches, she is often seen in attendance, reports GloucestershireLive. On this occasion, Tindall highlighted a memory where England's triumph against Scotland slightly irked the royal. Speaking to Closer magazine, the ex-rugby star, now 46, shared details about a match where Princess Anne had the duty of presenting the trophy to the winners. In a clever moment of sporting glory, he devised a way to revel in his victory, further spicing up the competitive moment with the Princess Royal herself. Tindall remarked: "Most fellas want to get something over on their mother-in-law. It's quite niche if you're the captain of the England team and you play Scotland at Twickenham and, when you win, you're receiving the trophy from your mother-in-law. I don't like the majority of the RFU (Rugby Football Union), but I shook every one of their hands and I kept her waiting." Additionally, he mentioned that the Princess Royal did not seem too pleased with his antics, nudging him to speed up his celebration. He recounted: "She was like 'Move on, Michael'. I was like 'Debrief over lunch tomorrow?', and she said, 'Move on, Michael'." This mischievous tale from Tindall illustrates his friendly bond with a key member of his family, showing how they can share a laugh over situations that might otherwise appear stressful and awkward. Having hung up his boots from international and club rugby, Tindall graced the 2022 series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! He charmed the audience with his relaxed demeanour and playful charm.
