Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League campaign continues tonight as they host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their round of 16 knockout tie. The Premier League leaders go into the game 1-0 up on aggregate thanks to an 87th minute goal from Harvey Elliott in the first leg. Elliott came on as a substitute in the final minutes and scored with what was his first touch and Liverpool’s first shot on target of the game. PSG still have it all to play for though, with the Ligue 1 champions boasting an impressive run of form. Their first leg loss is the teams only loss this year in all competitions, with Liverpool’s winner coming completely against the run of play. PSG dominated Liverpool in the first leg with 27 shots and 71% possession and head coach Luis Enrique is confident his side can do what is needed tonight to remain in the competition. I’m not going to give away who we are going to play or how we are going to play but over the course of two games we will see two of the best teams in Europe, two contenders for the final and whoever goes through will go through to the final.” The winning team will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-final, with the two sides set to play on Wednesday.
