Tributes have been flooding in for a "much loved" mum-of-three who tragically lost her life after being struck by a van on a golf course.
Staffordshire Police identified the victim as Suzanne Cherry from Aldridge, who sadly passed away in hospital on Tuesday night following the incident at a Sutton Coldfield golf course. It's believed that the van involved was being chased by police through Aston Wood Golf Club at around 10.25am on April 11.
Three men have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
The force stated: "Officers from West Midlands Police arrested three men on Wednesday, April 16. A 51-year-old man, from Bloxwich, was arrested on suspicion of murder, a 22-year-old man, from Dudley, on suspicion of manslaughter and assisting an offender and a 41-year-old man, from Worcester, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
"They are currently being questioned by detectives while in custody in Staffordshire. We are continuing our search for another man who was seen leaving Aston Wood Golf Club, on Blake Street, on foot following the collision.", reports the Mirror.
A neighbour fondly remembered the "much-loved" mum following her tragic passing this week. Speaking to the Daily Mail, they said: "She was a much-loved friend and neighbour. What happened is just appalling. She was playing golf with her husband. He witnessed the whole thing and is absolutely devastated."
Another neighbour added: "Going to play the game you love on a beautiful day and then that happens. It's beyond comprehension. Why would anyone drive a van up that bank and onto a golf course? It's sheer madness."
Calderfields Golf and Country Club has extended their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the mum who tragically passed away, describing the incident as a "tragic and very sad occurrence". Their statement read: "Our thoughts also go out to our neighbours, their staff and friends at Aston Wood, this was a tragic and very sad occurrence which should not happen anywhere, let alone on the tranquil environment of a golf course."
The heartbroken husband of Ms Cherry, who shared a home with her in Aldridge, was too distressed to make any statements on Friday.
Staffordshire Police are diligently working to reconstruct the events following the collision, examining footage from the scene and reviewing additional material received after their public appeals.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson reiterated the importance of community assistance, urging anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone to come forward.
They stated: "If you have any dashcam, CCTV, doorbell footage or if you were in the area of Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone at approximately 10.25am on Friday please get in touch.
"The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the circumstances prior to the collision when officers from West Midlands Police had responded to the vehicle being involved in reports of suspicious activity."
