Hyderabad News: Police on Friday apprehended a 14-year-old boy for the brutal killing of a 10-year-old girl, who was found with 21 stab wounds at her home in Sangeeth Nagar, Kukatpally. The girl was alone at the time, while her parents were at work and her younger brother was at school. The crime came to light on 18 August, when the girl’s father returned home to find her lying lifeless with multiple stab injuries to her neck and stomach, as per a TOI report. Investigations revealed she had been attacked with a knife after confronting the boy, who had broken into the house. Police believe the teenager intended to steal a cricket bat, but when the girl spotted him and raised an alarm, he allegedly panicked and stabbed her repeatedly. Suspect’s Shocking Plans Found in NotebookDuring searches at the boy’s residence, police recovered a notebook in which he had written out a disturbing plan. It mentioned his intention to steal Rs 80,000 in cash from the house and then cause a gas cylinder leak to set the home ablaze, as per the report. A senior Cyberabad police officer said, “It appears he later abandoned the plan for theft and arson, and instead decided to steal just the cricket bat.” How Police Cracked the CaseWith no CCTV cameras in the vicinity, investigators initially faced hurdles in identifying the culprit. After questioning several people, suspicion fell on the 14-year-old neighbour, who occasionally played cricket with the victim’s younger brother. On the day of the murder, police said the boy climbed onto the roof of the girl’s home from a neighbouring house, carrying a knife with him. When the girl screamed upon catching him trying to take the bat, he allegedly attacked her in a fit of panic. An FIR is expected to be registered on Saturday, while investigators are still conducting a crime scene recreation to piece together the sequence of events. The boy’s social media accounts are also being scrutinised to understand his behaviour and possible influences.
