THE Indian Premier League clash between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was dramatically ABANDONED mid-match over reported "security fears". The rivals collided at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday night. The Punjab Kings batted first and reached an impressive 122/1 after just ten overs. But the match was abandoned due to "security fears." The match was called to a halt as the floodlights were extinguished, which prompted players to be hauled off the pitch. Spectators were left stunned by the cancellation of the match and left the stadium in their droves after a message from the MC called for them to evacuate. Television coverage went off air with former England bowler Graeme Swann part of the commentary team. A statement from the The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) blamed a "significant technical failure". However, many spectators noted how the floodlights appeared to be switched off one by one, with the notice to evacuate the stadium coming very quickly. Cricket fans were stunned that the match even went ahead given the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Sunday's game between the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians scheduled to take place at the same venue had already been rearranged. And earlier today, the Pakistan Super League also announced their game scheduled for Thursday was postponed. Dharamshala was one of 20 Indian airports closed until May 10. Various parts of India have been under attack from its neighbour. Pakistan have today targeted several areas in the Jammu area, including the airport, with rockets. One of the drones hit Jammu airport, which led to the immediate scrambling of India's fighter jets. India have activated its air defence system and successfully intercepted several of the incoming rockets The Indian air defence system shot down a Pakistani F-16 aircraft following multiple attacks in the Jammu and Punjab districts. Several drone attacks have also been foiled, including the shooting down of two Kamikaze drones in Poonch. India has also launched their own attacks on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. They claim they've targeted "terrorist infrastructure" in the wake of the horrific tourist massacre in the Indian-controlled region of Kashmir last month.
