Inside super thin 6ft-wide townhouse in exclusive London neighbourhood as it goes on the market for £1.1 MILLION The tiny 6ft wide home was sold in 2022 for a whopping £775,000 READ MORE: Britain's most expensive flat goes on sale for £175m By MARIA OKANRENDE FOR MAILONLINE Published: 17:39 BST, 28 April 2025 | Updated: 18:11 BST, 28 April 2025 With the price of England's house prices skyrocketing year on year, anyone forking out money for a new abode would hope to get the best bang for their buck. It's perhaps then unbelievable that a tiny 6ft wide home in London's lavish South Kensington neighbourhood is worth a whopping £1.1 million. Dubbed Britain's thinnest home, the two bedroom flat covers just 580sq ft of floor space, and all in all is no more than 6ft wide. However the building's unusual dimensions seem not to have deterred house hunters, as the property sold for an eye watering £775,000 in August 2022. The apartment on Thurloe Square is just 6ft wide at its narrowest point and no more than 34ft at its widest - but somehow it has still managed to incorporate a terrace, two bathrooms and even two sizeable bedrooms. Despite its bizarre size, the home's exterior is unlikely to catch attention as it features a simple red brick and white design, along with a narrow terrace and double black doors. But inside the former studio however, more aesthetically pleasing features lay in wait - such as a sizeable corner living room with a stunning white and gold décor. Beside the sitting room a small dining area can be found - fitted with a modern glass table and stunning black and wooden chairs. A large mirror can also be seen mounted on the wall. The tiny 6ft wide home in London's lavish South Kensington neighbourhood is now worth a whopping £1.1 million The apartment on Thurloe Square is just 6ft wide at its narrowest point and no more than 34ft at its widest Beside the sitting room a small dining area can be found - fitted with a modern glass table and stunning black and wooden chairs The narrow home also contains two bedrooms, each kitted with striking white wardrobes and grand windows, although none of them appear to be double glazed. It also accommodates a modest-sized kitchen complete with a sleek black granite counter top, electric stove and white cabinets. A further tour of the home reveals two bathrooms - and though both visibly thin, they each contain separate shower areas, toilet bowls, sinks and surface areas to arrange personal items. Despite its shocking size, a small garden area can be seen located at the rear of the property. The thin walkway, decorated with an array of plants neatly arranged on either side, is confined by rows of white brick walls, while the roofless area allows direct sunlight onto the patio. And perhaps one of the home's most desirable features is its location near three underground stations, South Kensington, Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. It is also a short walk from Hyde Park. The former art studio was built on land that was left over after houses were demolished to make way for the London Underground at the end of the nineteenth century. The government of the time stopped the Metropolitan Railway Company from building an entrance to South Kensington tube station in Thurloe Square, leaving space for the so-called Thin House. And now flats there can go for £1m plus, with this one hitting the market at the end of 2021 for £795,000. The narrow home also contains two bedrooms, each kitted with striking white wardrobes and grand windows It also accommodates a modest-sized kitchen complete with a sleek black granite counter top, electric stove and white cabinets. It took almost a year to sell but eventually did change hands for just £20,000 shy of its asking price. The flat, which covers 580sq ft of floor space, is located in the thinnest section of the unusually shaped building, as all of its walls are no more than 6ft wide.. The flat, however, comes without a bath - making it a bad choice for those who love a soak at the end of the day. Estate agent Purple Bricks said the property offered a 'unique opportunity' to live in 'a well-known local tourist attraction'. If you're looking for a more upscale abode, Britain's most expensive flat, which was once home to pop princess Kylie Minogue, is just around the corner. Despite its shocking size, a small garden area can be seen located at the rear of the property A further tour of the home reveals two bathrooms - and though both visibly thin, they each contain separate shower areas, toilet bowls, sinks and surface areas to arrange personal items The five bedroom luxury apartment is situated in Knightsbridge and went on sale last year for an eye-popping £175 million. The lucky buyer will live in a home in the swanky One Hyde Park apartment complex - which is within walking distance of Harrods and Buckingham Palace and boasts Hollywood action man Tom Cruise as a neighbour. Britain's most expensive flat goes on sale for £175m: Five bedroom luxury pad near Buckingham Palace was once owned by pop princess Kylie Minogue The swanky pad features sweeping views of Hyde Park from the living room, as well as five bedrooms and an equal amount of bathrooms. The 18,000 sq ft apartment also has a wine cellar and a Japanese-inspired kitchen with black forest granite worktops. As well as a private spa and home cinema. Residents also mingle with the rich and famous, as fellow residents include Kylie, who lived in the flat, and Ukraine's wealthiest man Rinat Akhmetov. If the home sells for the asking price, it will surpass the last most expensive sale in the UK of a penthouse at the same address which sold for £160m in 2018. The estate agent's listing describes the home as being in 'one of the most exclusive developments in the world.' They added: 'The penthouse is one of the finest residential real estate assets in London, offering unparalleled lateral living space, in a super prime location.' One Hyde Park was developed by billionaire property tycoon brothers Nick and Christian Candy in 2010. The 86 apartments have boasted a high price tags ever since the first apartment sold for a whopping £140 million the same year. Residents can also enjoy access to a 21-metre swimming pool, a golf simulator and valet service and room service via a tunnel from the five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel conveniently situated just next door.
