Ireland rugby player Anna McGann has big plans for her off pitch passion

When rugby player Anna McGann found herself with extra free time while she was recovering from a torn ACL, she refused to rest on her laurels.
Instead, she threw herself into chasing a dream she'd long held and started making plans for her own business, creating a jewellery line.
Now back in action and competing in the Six Nations tournament, Anna is balancing running a brand and playing rugby - no mean feat!
‘Running Chaos The Label in camp has been challenging and I have had to prioritise rugby over the business for now, but I Iove doing it and have always wanted to love my job outside of rugby. I have my own company and I love running it, so it doesn’t feel like a job,’ Anna told EVOKE.
Recalling the early days of Chaos, Anna continued: ‘I launched Chaos The Label in December 2024 but I’d always wanted my own business when I was younger.
‘After I tore my ACL, I was left with extra free time so I decided it’d be good to have something else to focus on and I started making plans from there.
‘We currently have rings, which is the first line I’ve designed, and after four months in business, it’s been hectic to say the least but so class to see the work I’ve put in get results.’
Anna credits her sister Sarah and mum Terry with helping her behind the scenes with Chaos and also for giving her a passion for style.
She said: 'I've been into fashion ever since I was young and it’s something that my mum and sister love as well. Mum was a dressmaker and would make wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.
'She had her own business and that’s definitely where my passion stems from. It all came from her because that’s what I saw growing up.
'My sister is fashionable as well and puts her two cents in where she can! I’d say we do have different styles but they could see where I was going with the idea for Chaos The Label.
‘I’d have been into chunky jewellery but I couldn’t really find anything that was good quality and wouldn’t tarnish but wasn’t mad expensive so that people my age could still afford it.’
Anna also has her family to thank for naming her business. Laughing, she recalled: ‘I was brainstorming with my sister, mum, and brother-in-law and a few names were coming up but nothing was sticking.
‘Then we started talked about my life and rugby coming up, saying “it’s going to be so chaotic” and my sister was like “that has a nice ring to it, it sounds cool” and it was very valid for life at the moment, so we went with Chaos The Label.'
As well as her family, Anna is also backed by her 'so supportive' friends on the Ireland team, with her joking that she 'basically sponsors the team at this point'.
The next few months are looking to live up to her brand's name with Anna preparing to continue playing in the Six Nations and hoping to release a new line of products with Chaos The Label.
'I have necklaces coming in the next few months, the idea is to keep Chaos as broad as being a fashion brand and hopefully go into more accessories and clothing line- that’s the goal for Chaos,' she said.
As for her rugby, on Sunday Anna will line out against Wales in Ireland’s fourth Six Nations match and says that the next two weeks are ‘exciting’ for the team.
‘We’re week nine in camp now and it’s been a long few weeks but it’s been exciting and especially off the back of last weekend [where Ireland lost to England], we feel we left lots out there.
‘The next two weeks, we really want to execute and know that we can show what we're about as a team and that we’re up there with the best in the world.
