'It would be amazing' - Manchester United's talented youngsters looking to create more history

Manchester United's youngsters are relishing the prospect of reaching the FA Youth Cup final. United have beaten Coventry City, Preston North End, Chelsea and Arsenal in the competition so far and face Aston Villa away from home in the semi-finals on Monday night. The Under-18s are stacked with talent but demonstrated immense character to win against Arsenal, as Jaydan Kamson scored a superb late equaliser to send the clash into extra-time before Bendito Mantato scored during the extended period to seal progression to the semi-finals with a 3-2 victory. Although Mantato scored the matchwinner from the bench at the Emirates, Kamason delivered a man-of-the-match performance and the pair spoke to MUTV ahead of the semi-final. "It was 1-1 going into half-time and then we gave a penalty away in the second half, which was unfortunate. They scored again and the lads had to show resilience after that," said Kamason. "At the end of the game, the ball came up to me; I've shot and scored, so it was good to score an equalling goal for the team. I put my laces through it and it went into the top corner. "It's a very prestigious competition, it holds a lot of weight and United have won a lot of Youth Cups in the past, even recently in 2022, so we want to be our own team and everyone is watching." Mantato added: "Playing at the Emirates is something like never really happens. It's a new experience, and then to score was something else... It wasn't something you dream of, but it was great. "I'd say the Youth Cup is definitely the most important competition at academy level. "To win it this season would be an amazing feeling and there's many great players who have done it before, like Pogba and Lingard, so to win it again would be a great achievement for us. "Being away from home, travelling and playing in a great stadium as well, Villa Park, they'll have their fans and we'll try come and beat them on their own pitch, so there's some fire about it." Boss Adam Lawrence know United will be favourites in the Midlands and is not expecting an easy evening against Villa. He added: "This competition means a lot to the players and we're aware of the history. We're Manchester United in every single competition we play in and want to get into the latter stages of every tournament. "The Youth Cup is special but it's not easy to win anything." The Manchester Evening News will be at Villa Park on Monday night to report on the semi-final.
