Warning: Spoilers ahead for Netflix's Adolescence* ITV's Lorraine Kelly dished out the latest telly gossip on Tuesday's episode of her show, where she heaped praise on Netflix's new four-part sensation, Adolescence. The gripping crime-drama series delves into the life of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who finds himself in cuffs, suspected of killing his classmate Katie. The show boldly tackles heavy themes like toxic masculinity, the perils lurking on social media, and the issue of youth violence. On her show, Lorraine was all about the buzz surrounding the series. She commented: "It's a really fascinating discussion, and I think they've done us a great service by doing this. I know it's a drama, but they've actually done us all a service as they've got us talking about it." Lorraine expressed her hope that the show would spark meaningful conversations with young people. She went on to say: "Hopefully, we can talk to our kids and say, 'Nah, this is not the way, this is not how men behave.'" The ITV host also reflected on her guest's comments about the need for more Beta male role models for teens today, reports Bristol Live . Since its release on March 13, Adolescence has been a hit, landing the number one position on Netflix's top 10 chart. Each episode, shot in a single take, zooms in on the alleged crime and its ripple effects on Jamie's circle. Stephen Graham, co-writer and star of Adolescence playing Jamie's dad, opened up to Netflix about the profound themes tackled in the series. He said: "One of our aims was to ask, 'What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?' "And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over." Discussing the remarkable achievement of filming in a single take without any slip-ups, Stephen admitted that it required extensive groundwork. While chatting on The One Show recently, he divulged: "Each episode is shot over three weeks, but for the first week, our amazing and unbelievable director Philip Barantini, they were absolutely phenomenal. "So for the first week, working on the script, analysing the text, the second week, we kind of work with the camera and we choreograph the whole thing." By the third week of production, Stephen shared, they were efficiently filming two scenes per day. Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am. Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix now.
