Star Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play his first match of IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians. According to a report in Sports Tak on Saturday (April 5), Bumrah, who last played a competitive match on January 5, 2025, against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, has got the clearance from the Centre of Excellence (COE), and he will join the Mumbai Indians squad in a day or two. It has been reported that Bumrah, who has 165 wickets to his name in 133 IPL matches played so far, “will have to play at least two practice matches (match stimulation) before featuring in the Indian Premier League 2025.” According to Sports Tak, “Bumrah will make his comeback in the Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals clash, which is scheduled to take place on April 13 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.” Bumrah made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in the 2013 edition and, in the past 12 years, has won five titles with the Mumbai-based franchise. In the last season of the IPL, Bumrah played 13 matches and dismissed 20 batters. He was retained for Rs 18 crore by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions. Bumrah, who is one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, is out of action these days due to a lower back injury which he suffered while playing for India in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Before being sidelined due to injury, Bumrah was in red-hot form. In five Tests of the series against Australia, Bumrah dismissed 32 batters, and for his super show with the ball, he won the Player of the Series award. In Bumrah’s absence, former New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult is leading MI’s pace attack in IPL 2025 along with Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya. In MI’s fourth league stage match of IPL 2025 on Friday (April 4), which was played against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium, Hardik picked up five wickets for 36 runs in four overs.
