K50,000 boost for SSY RL

THE Pacific Corporate Group of Companies graced SSY Rugby League with a bumper K50,000 sponsorship. The Managing Director of Pacific Corporate Group of Companies, Jacob Kaupa continues to support different community initiatives through their social corporate responsibility. And recently, the SSY Rugby league was facing financial hurdles to conduct it’s game and intervention was sought to continue and bolster the game through a request by its technical management staff to Pacific Corporate. The Managing Director of Pacific Corporate Group of Companies renowned for his magnanimous and philanthropic attributes consented to be the Gold Sponsor for the year 2025 and onwards. SSY League and Pacific Corporate Group of Companies have forged a lasting relationship that will now go hand in hand to enable the continuity of the rugby league in the district. Kaupa said he was moved to support the initiative because SSY is the birth place of rugby league stalwarts and with the recent retirement of Justin Olam, there are more like Olam that must be produce to uphold and continue the legacy. Pacific Corporate Group of Companies had been supporting the Port Moresby Vipers for four consecutive years and other church run programs in and around Port Moresby as well. Kaupa said with the advent of PNG to enter into the NRL in 2028 and for the re-entry of Simbu CBL Warriors into the 2026 Digicel Exxon Mobil Cup competition, the district league will only reinforce and give significance to the bid process. Kaupa further went on to emphasise that as a businessman he is playing his part and urged other business houses in Simbu to do the same. Elites, clergymen and politicians must all play on their part in a collaborative effort to address youth development not only in sporting arena, Kaupa accentuated. He urge those who might link his gesture to politics as naive and skeptical. Kaupa made it clear that he has a moral obligation to give back to SSY as a native there and this was also his 1/10 tithe. After the presentation and the official kick-off by Kaupa at Dumun Primary field, Kaupa visited the grave of late John Markham, Bal Numapo and Joannes Kola and showered their family with handshake gifts. Kaupa thanked the SSY DDA under chairman Kerenga Kua for the support last year and this year and said they will work symbiotically to enable the competition to run smoothly in the presence of Paul John Ore. The program was concluded at Riverside resort with the SSY technical management executive gifting Kaupa with the signed jersey of Olam playing in the indigenous competition followed by light refreshment. The following SSY distinguished men accompanied Kaupa to the presentation to give credence and value to the presentation. They include, John Kamasua, John Varey, Brown Marome accompanied by Dr John Tonar and Pacific Corporate supporting staff. The SSY DDA was represented by Paul John Ore in his capacity as First Secretary and also in his other capacity as CBL warriors Chairman followed by CBL Warriors President Michael Robert and Pastor John Kamane education board chairman Simbu Kaupa extend his heartfelt gratitude to the technical support staff for the voluntary job done notably, Jamie Miul Kola, John Kamane, Micheal Mark, Eric Sinebare and Mr.Atte for mobilising the clubs to engage in this competition and coordinating it.
