Karawalevu in Talks with French Club
@Source: fijisun.com.fj
The 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season is likely to be Vuate Karawalevu’s last. The 24-year-old Swire Shipping Fijian Drua utility back is weighing his options on a move to French Top 14 club Castres. If that happens he could be playing alongside Leone Nakarawa and Vilimoni Botitu Karawalevu signed with the Drua in August last year following his Flying Fijians debut during the Pacific Nations Cup. He has played six matches so far where he started in five; he has scored four tries. “Talks have been happening,” the Dravuwalu, Kadavu, native said. “Everything will be confirmed when it is in black and white. There is a question mark right now.” The former Marist Brothers High School student said their 14-31 loss against Crusaders was quite disappointing. He added the Drua fans have always had high expectations for the side at every home game. “The outcome was not on our side. We did our best. “All teams have been tough coming to Super Rugby, it’s fast paced and there’s another level of physicality “Crusaders gave us a tough game, hats off to them.” While his focus is currently on the Drua he indicated he will always be available for the Flying Fijians whenever. “If selected I always put my hands up to represent the country. “My main focus now is Drua if we can end the season on a high,” he added. Karawalevu also played for the Kaiviti Silktails (Ron Massey Cup), North Sydney Bears (NSW Cup) and has been part of the Sydney Roosters set-up in the NRL. He has also represented Fiji in rugby league, turning out for the Fiji Bati at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. He had a stint with NSW Waratahs where he played two Super Rugby matches.
