Kate Middleton and Prince William Reveal Their Relatable Weekend Schedule with George, Charlotte and Louis
@Source: people.com
Kate Middleton and Prince William are just like other busy parents when it comes to weekends with their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The Prince of Wales recently offered a rare insight into how he and his wife spend most Saturdays and Sundays with their children. Prince William, 42, made the revelation behind the scenes of the Wales vs. England Six Nations Match in Cardiff, Wales, which the couple attended on March 15. "At weekends, we go from one competition to the next," Prince William said while meeting athletes supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, according to Hello! magazine. William is the patron of the charity that supports players who have been severely injured playing rugby football in Wales, and he and Kate spent time with players and families who have been helped by the trust before the Six Nations Match began. The Prince and Princess of Wales — who are parents to George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6 — also said that their youngest child is getting involved with rugby! Kate said, "Louis is 6, and he's just started touch rugby and George is 11 and he plays a bit more. They do really enjoy it. They've been exposed to lots of different sports." Prince William and Princess Kate are both known for their personal passions for sports, and they seem to be raising kids with similar interests. William's revelation that his family's weekends are full of sports matches draws a parallel to his wife's own childhood. Princess Kate's brother, James Middleton, wrote in an October 2024 "My Saturday" column of The Telegraph, "At weekends, I would often be dragged to watch my sisters Catherine and Pippa in sports matches, so I would take the headmaster’s wife’s sheepdog for a walk." A palace insider previously told PEOPLE that Prince William "loves" the grounded values Princess Kate brings to their children's upbringing, as the couple works to ensure their children's childhoods are as normal as possible. "Those children look pretty happy with life. A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that's how she grew up," the insider said in summer 2023. "William absolutely loves it." The Prince and Princess of Wales put that into practice by sending Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to day school (not boarding school as William went to), reducing their royal duties during their children's school breaks and spending the weekends together as a family. Princess Kate's comment about George and Louis' interest in rugby is not the first time she has spoken about her children's involvement the sport. Kate shared similar insight at a pre-event reception with the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust before the Wales vs. England Six Nations game in 2023, where she said George and Charlotte were both playing rugby. Kate said then that George was advancing from tag rugby to touch rugby at school, where his "tall" height provided an advantage, Hello! reported then. Can't get enough of PEOPLE's Royals coverage? "They move them around for their confidence. Because he is tall, he has the physique." "But then there is Louis coming," Kate elsewhere mentioned. "Charlotte also does rugby." Sports are an important part of the schedule at the Lambrook School, where the Wales children are enrolled. Sport is "very much part of the curriculum" for nursery and pre-prep students, per the school's website, while prep pupils like George and Charlotte get the chance to try soccer, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket and more.
