@Source: news18.com
The Indian women’s cricket team will face England in a five-match T20I series. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Saturday (June 28), and the next four matches will be played in Bristol (July 1), The Oval (July 4), Manchester (July 9), and Birmingham (July 12). Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Women in Blue, and Nat Sciver-Brunt has been named as the captain of the English team. India last played a T20I series in December 2024 against the West Indies at home and won all three matches, whereas England also secured three wins in three matches played against the Windies last month. During the five-match series between India and England, players from both teams will have a chance to break multiple batting, bowling, and fielding records. Here’s a look: India will become the third team after England (215) and Australia (200) to feature in 200 T20Is. The series opener in Trent Bridge on Saturday will be India’s 200th T20I match in women’s cricket. Smriti Mandhana has played 148 T20Is for India so far. If she features in at least two matches of the upcoming series, then she will become the second Indian and overall seventh cricketer in the world to make 150 or more T20I appearances. The record of most women’s T20Is is in the name of Harmanpreet Kaur (178). Mandhana has scored 3761 runs in 148 T20Is played so far. If she manages to amass a total of at least 239 runs in the next five matches, then she will become the first Indian and overall second batter after Suzie Bates of New Zealand to score 4000 runs in T20Is. In 124 T20Is played so far, Deepti Sharma has picked up 138 wickets for Women in Blue. If she finishes the series with at least 12 wickets, then she will become the first Indian to take 150 wickets in T20Is, and if she dismisses at least 14 batters in the upcoming five matches, then she will go past Megan Schutt’s tally of 151 wickets and become the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20Is. Harmanpreet Kaur has won 71 out of 123 T20Is played so far as India captain. If India manages to win all five matches of the upcoming series, then it will help Harman equal Meg Lanning’s world record of most wins (76) as captain in T20Is. Sophie Ecclestone will lead England’s spin attack in the upcoming series, and if she manages to take at least four wickets, then she will break Katherine Sciver-Brunt’s record and become the most successful bowler in India-England women’s T20Is. Ecclestone has 20 wickets to her name in 15 T20Is played so far, whereas Katherine finished her career with 23 wickets in 19 matches.
