LIV Golf reveals hunger to deal with unfinished business

Hungry Paul Casey admits he’s got unfinished business as he prepares for a major golfing date at home. The English star is in good form having made the four-man play-off for the LIV Golf title in Dallas at the weekend. Despite not having a ticket to Royal Portrush, Casey is not playing in Tuesday's final Open qualifying with a next outing coming at next week’s Saudi-backed series event in Spain. However, the 47-year-old has an eye beyond Valderrama and the opportunity to shine on home soil when he takes part in LIV UK at JCB Golf and County Club in Rocester the week after The Open Championship. Casey feels he’s finding touch and said: “I’ve had a busy few weeks, but I can continue to work hard at the game. "I feel like I’ve found a couple of things and the game is trending. I’ve not got that victory yet, but I’m hungry for it. Maybe that’s Valderrama. "It’s a golf course I love, but maybe one I don’t play great. But I think JCB there’s kind of unfinished business around there.” Casey was agonisingly close to success in Texas as he made the play-off with eventual winner Patrick Reed, South African Louis Oosthuizen and Japan’s Jinichiro Kozuma. The former Ryder Cup star just couldn’t over the line, but was consoled by the fact his Crishers GC team including Bryson DeChambeau managed to win the team competition for the third-straight tournament. Casey explained: “My emotions? Losing in a playoff, I’m always a bit p****d off usually. But that’s understandable. But then you kind of see the joy on the guys’ faces. "So I’m sitting here smiling because I know what it means for Bryson, the effort that he’s put into this week. "For us this was like a little Crushers home game, hospitality that you could see down the 15th. Bryson lives just down the road, home crowd. He put in so much effort and time. I’m proud of the way I played. Casey savours being part of the Crushers side having made the key decision to switch to LIV Golf at the inception of the series. DeChambeau is determined to take the team, which also includes Indian star Anirban Lahiri and US star Charles Howell III, concept across the globe and explore opportunities and his team-mate said: “Our team is kind of a small reflection of where we play around the planet as a league. "That’s pretty diverse. We are the global tour. The lineup you see on here, we’re very proud of the fact we’ve not changed. “Bryson has not changed this line-up, but who knows what this looks like in five years or ten years’ time. “That’s exciting too. Bryson wants to fill this team with the best players possible. We don’t have to look right now.”
