Canadiens lead 73’s
Aedan Sullivan scored at 7:31 of the second overtime period to lift the Lakeshore Canadiens to a 2-1 road win over the Essex 73’s on Tuesday.
With it, the second-seeded Canadiens hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Bills Stobbs Division series final in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Josh Cyrenne’s power-play goal pulled Lakeshore even in the second period while goalie Boe Piroski was phenomenal with the Canadiens outshot 52-25 in the game and 10-1 in the second overtime. Patrick McManus had the lone goal of the 73’s, who opened the game’s scoring on a power play in the second period.
All three games in the series have been won by the road team with Game 4 set for Friday in Lakeshore.
Williams strikes gold
Breanna Williams captured gold in solo figure skating at the Special Olympics World Winter Games, which were held in Turin, Italy.
The 16-year-old Williams was the area’s lone athlete on the Canadian Special Olympics Team. She qualified by winning gold at the Special Olympics Winter Games in Calgary in February.
