Louis Rees-Zammit makes Jaguars change and ups the ante as NFL timeline emerges

Louis Rees-Zammit has a new jersey number with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The former Wales rugby winger will be wearing the number 89 ahead of the new season, after being re-signed by Jaguars. The shirt number was previously assigned to tight end Luke Farrell.
The 24-year-old wide receiver wore 84 last season, and had the number nine jersey with Kansas City Chiefs before he was cut from their roster last August.
It's currently the off-season in the NFL, with the Philadelphia Eagles having picked up the Super Bowl against Chiefs at the beginning of February. Jaguars did not qualify for the play-offs and endured a disappointing campaign, with Rees-Zammit not playing a single game.
As a member of the 17-player practice squad, the Welshman had the opportunity to be elevated to the main roster up to three times throughout the season, but with his maiden campaign being more of a learning process, it's not a huge surprise he wasn't involved.
Next season will be the real test for Rees-Zammit, as he attempts to prove he's good enough to play at the highest level of American football. Since the term ended, he's returned back to Wales to enjoy the off-season with family and friends, as well as doing some travelling to south east Asia with his brother, Taylor.
However, now with pre-season on the horizon, he has been upping the ante in preparation for his return to the States. As well as hitting a Pilates session with friend and superstar boxer Joe Cordina, Rees-Zammit has been working hard on the training paddock with close friend Isaac Marsh.
Marsh is the brains behind popular rugby coaching organisation 'Kaizen Rugby', and is a student at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The two are good friends and were team-mates together at youth level for Gloucester. Having a pal who's a highly-skilled coach came in handy for Rees-Zammit, with Marsh putting his friend through various drills, testing his handling, co-ordination and agility.
The NFL's pre-season begins in August, with Rees-Zammit very likely to see game-time. If so, it'll be the first time he has played in an actual game since pre-season last year with the Chiefs.
The NFL schedule for the new season will be revealed some time in May, with Rees-Zammit and Jaguars finding out who they'll be going up against and when those games will take place. This announcement will likely confirm Jaguars' return to playing 'International Games' at Wembley Stadium.
Training camps will then begin in late July, which is essentially where the real pre-season begins. Franchises will then cut their squads to 53, with 17 players on a practice squad, in late August. If Rees-Zammit is not selected here, he will be without a team and become a free agent, ready to be picked up again.
The season then begins on September 4, with Super Bowl winners Eagles hosting a team, yet to be announced.
