Love Island 2025: When does it start, who will host the hit show and who are the contestants?

A summer of love is back on the cards for the UK, as Love Island gears up for yet another series.
That’s right, it is nearly that time again, but this time it won’t be former Islanders and famous faces gracing our screens, but a whole new set of newbies looking to find ‘the one’.
Already one Islander has quit.
Kyle Ashman from Stafford was due to go in but has since confirmed he will not be entering the villa this year after The Sun reported he had been questioned by police in connection with an incident involving a machete attack.
"I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident," Ashman, 23, said in a statement to RadioTimes.com.
"I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation."
The countdown is on as things kick off tonight (Monday June 9) but what do we know about how the 2025 series will look like?
Things will kick off at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX tonight on Monday, June 9.
The show will run for eight weeks, taking viewers through a summer of romance, drama, and unexpected twists.
Maya Jama is back to host this summer after a series of rumours hinted she may not be back after the All Stars version.
There were rumours that Maya had quit the show but she shut them down, talking to Instagram stories saying: “I will be presenting Love Island and have no plans to leave right now. I filmed promo a couple of days ago actually. Fake news is fake news-ing as usual.”
The lineup has now been confirmed and there are a bevvy of men and women lined up for their summer of fun.
The 24-year-old worked as a Las Vegas Pool Cabana Server before agreeing to enter the show.
Toni, from Connecticut in the US, has said she wants to try dating a British man as they are "more polite, with better manners", and "all Americans love a good accent".
She has said that her biggest ick is people with "bad hygiene", and that she's looking for someone with "darker hair" and a "clean hair cut", who is "definitely muscular but not too muscular" and is "super fit".
The 25-year-old rugby player from Limerick, Ireland has said he's looking for "someone who is really sure of themselves".
He said of his type: "Ambitious, a bit of a go-getter and good craic. I like dark eyes and I don't mind a dominant woman."
On his turn-offs, he added: "Being too needy, or needing to do everything together. I like someone to be independent and do their own thing and then we come together and do our thing."
Blu is a 26-year-old construction project manager from London, who has been announced as one of the faces to enter the villa this summer.
Speaking about what he's looking for in a partner, he said: "Someone who is family oriented, has a lot of love to give and a lot of love to receive. Personality goes a long way."
The 22-year-old from Burnley is in marketing and has said she is looking for “the one”.
Asked about what she's looking for in a partner, she wants "someone who is tall, charming, witty, with big arms, a good smile and just really funny".
The 30-year-old from Guildford is a gold trader, semi professional footballer and model who says his claim to fame is that he looks like Arsenal and England star Declan Rice.
He explained: "When he does a shoot, any body close-ups will actually be me. You’ll never see my face, but you’ll see my shoulder or chest, that kind of thing."
Talking about what he's looking for in a partner, he said: "A girl that makes me laugh and can hold eye contact with me. I don’t think I’d go for the most obvious girl, I like a real sweet girl."
Megan from Southampton is a musical theatre performer and works as an energy broker.
Talking about what she wants in a partner, she said: "I’d like to meet someone who is tall, with a nice tan, nice eyes and a nice smile. He needs to have a good fashion sense and a really good, funny personality that I can get on with."
Helena, 29, is from London and is friends with 2018 cast member Zara McDermott.
She said: "I feel like Northern people have much more banter than Southerners. If you look through my previous dating history, you’ll see I clearly go for personality. You can pretty much laugh me into bed."
The 23-year-old from Scotland works as a wealth management client services executive.
She describes herself as a "good flirt" and has a go-to tactic when trying to flirt with men.
She explained: "I always ask guys on a night out to guess which country I’m originally from. If they get it right, they can get my number. But they never guess correctly, so it works really well if you don’t want to give a guy your number.”
Tommy is a 22-year-old landscape gardener who doesn’t want someone who “takes themselves too seriously”.
He explained he wants: "A girl who is very ambitious, with a big personality, caring, but also someone that doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
"I don’t know if that’s asking for too much, but I want a bit of everything. I haven’t got a specific type in terms of looks, though."
Sophie is a 29-year-old from Manchester who works motivating people after a traumatic incident in her own life.
Sophie used to work as a fire breather but suffered an accident that left her with severe burns.
She has since written a book after the incident titled ‘In My Skin’ and has worked with The Katie Piper Foundation to raise awareness for fellow burn survivors.
Sophie described herself as the "CEO of empowerment". She said: "I want women to feel beautiful and validated in themselves and feel their best self."
Dejon is a 26-year-old personal trainer from London and his dad is former professional footballer Gifton Noel-Williams, who played for the likes of Watford, Burnley and Stoke.
Talking about what he's looking for in a partner, he said "someone who is beautiful on the inside and out".
Megan from Dublin currently lives in Brighton after graduating from The Brighton Academy of performing arts and musical theatre.
Talking about what she's looking for in a partner, she said: "Someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously and has a sense of humour. If they’re not bad-looking, that’s always a plus. I love a boy that’s a bit pasty, like Timothée Chalamet."
Taxi driver Ben, 23 also works as a model and is hoping he will find love.
He said he’s after "someone sexy, good-looking, good chat, good vibes, nice teeth and good eye contact - they’re all the traits I look for.
"Oh, and also a cute smile, I just look at you and know I can be around you all day, every day."
