Luka Doncic explains his path to taking up basketball when he was young

In his conversation with former two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash, Doncic talked about his past in sports.
“Yeah, I was playing a lot of sports. Tennis, soccer, and basketball were the main ones. I played volleyball, so for me, it was fun just to do sports. After school, I went outside every time,” Doncic said on Mind The Game.
“I went to his games. I started being a ball boy. In EuroLeague games, I was a ball boy for Olimpija. That’s how I used my time to just get into basketball. They’d let us play before the game, at halftime, and after the game. I was just shooting.”
The Doncic family knew Luka would love to keep playing basketball, so they kept encouraging him. That worked out because he is now one of the world’s best players. He is in the NBA, but he did not rule out a return to Europe in the future.
The sport continues to be more global
Many people see basketball as a sport exclusive to North American players. That is not the case anymore because players like Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have proven that wrong.
The NBA has become a global league over the past few decades, and there is no denying that. Doncic is a good example of the routes to making the league outside the American system.
