A MAJOR high street retailer is to shut at a Scottish shopping centre as a huge closing down sale was launched.
The shutters will be pulled down on Sports Direct's huge shop in Glasgow's Silverburn.
Signs have appeared outside the store announcing the news to punters.
They read: "Closing down. 20 per cent off full price, exclusions apply."
The retail giant, which has over 500 branches in the UK, was founded in 1982 by Mike Ashley.
The now 60-year-old opened the original first store in Maidenhead.
In the 1990s, the business tycoon opened another 100 shops across the UK, with a major rebrand as Sports Soccer.
He then rebranded the stores to Sports Direct in 2008.
It is currently unknown when the brand's Silverburn store will close down.
Sports Direct was approached for comment.
We told how two of Mike Ashley's stores launched huge closing down sales at another Scottish shopping centre.
The sportswear tycoon bought the Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee in 2023.
Since then huge plans have emerged for the retail hub, including a £5million transformation.
One proposal mooted for the centre is a huge new department store.
Frasers, which is owned by Ashley, will take over the vacant Debenhams.
It will have a range of big-name brands covered by Frasers group, including USC and Sports Direct.
