The animated feature The First Slam Dunk has achieved a 'perfect' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting a 100% score following a barrage of five-star reviews from viewers. Released in 2022, The First Slam Dunk is a Japanese sports film that followed the success of the Inoue Slam Dunk manga series. Although it might not be widely recognised among general film enthusiasts, it made significant ripples in the industry, amassing an impressive $279 million at the global box office. The film has risen to become the sixth highest-grossing Japanese film internationally and the most successful basketball film ever made. Audiences have been effusive in their praise, with some even hailing it as "one of the best animated films ever." One particularly enthusiastic review read: "One of the greatest movies I've seen in my life. I'm not kidding. "Amazing animation, amazing soundtrack, amazing story-all amazingly executed. And the best part is it's a movie for everyone. "Even if you don't like anime. Even if you don't like basketball. "Even if you don't care about sports. Enough said, go watch it! ! !" Another viewer expressed their astonishment, saying: "Thought I would get some nostalgia on this but totally blown away by the rearrangement. Those who read and watch the manga and anime series will be totally surprised by this. "The animation is totally top tier!" The First Slam Dunk has left audiences thrilled, telling the tale of Ryota Miyagi navigating his high school basketball career at Shohoku High and seeking victory with teammates Hanamichi Sakuragi, Takenori Akagi, Hisashi Mitsui, and Kaede Rukawa. As they challenge reigning champions, viewers are treated to intense gameplay interspersed with poignant flashbacks, reports the Mirror US . A viewer said: "This movie will make you stand up and cheer. This movie gets what makes basketball great. "I was so into the game that I was sweating and my heart was racing while I watched. I would say that I was at the edge of my seat the whole time, but that's not true. "I actually stood up to cheer and pump my fist as I watched. I can say all the sports movie review cliché stuff about this film, and it is all true." Creator of The First Slam Dunk, Takehiko Inoue, also penned the best-selling manga Vagabond, establishing him as a significant figure in the world of sports-themed literature. Inoue's passion for basketball shines through his work, captivating fellow enthusiasts. The film's appeal extends across diverse audiences, from hoops aficionados to comic book fans, earning high praise for its animated adaptation. If curiosity strikes on how this saga unfolds in a feature-length format, The First Slam Dunk is now streaming on Netflix, ready for your viewing pleasure.
