Man charged over 'murder bid' after Edinburgh flat 'stabbing'

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing at a flat in Edinburgh. Emergency services raced to the capital's Northcote Street after the alarm was raised at 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 9. Paramedics attended and a 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His current condition is unknown. Police say a 47-year-old man has since been arrested and charged. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday. Images from the scene showed multiple cop vehicles and ambulances in attendance. Specialist officers were spotted bringing a dog under control before leading it towards a van. Another officer was seen holding a plastic riot shield as the drama unfolded. A statement from Police Scotland reads: "A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Edinburgh. "Around 5.25pm on Wednesday, 9 July, 2025, officers were called to a report of a disturbance at an address in the Northcote Street area. "A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries . "The 47-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, 11 July, 2025.
