Man gets so fed up of potholes outside home that he decides to fill them – with Weetabix
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
One man got so fed up with potholes in his local area, he decided to take matters into his own hands – or rather, his mouth. Ben Thornbury took to the streets of Somerford Keynes, Gloucestershire, and filled one of the potholes with Weetabix in an effort to draw attention to the poor condition of the roads and prompt action from the council. He hadn't ever enjoyed a breakfast that way, but was inspired by another pothole activist to do that same, after they enjoyed a bowl of Coco Pops near their nearest road crevice. Speaking to the Daily Star, Ben said: "I decided to put the Weetabix in the pothole because I was fed up with not enough being done about potholes being repaired, they get reported but nothing done and as a young person I thought to get creative with my campaigning! So I went out brought 200+ weetabix and just went for it." He added: "I have found getting creative with campaigns in the past have worked. Like when I did the Crazy Pothole Golf on Malmesbury High Street which got it resurfaced and the same along Abbey Row with the fishing." These campaigns are by no means new. A Scottish prankster disguised as a council worker decided to share a Facebook video making a bowl of Coco Pops from a pothole. The cheeky spoof involves a man behind the camera approaching what seems to be a council worker in a hi-vis jacket pouring the chocolate cereal into the hole. The foul-mouthed cameraman confronts the prankster, asking him what he’s up to. When he insists he’s “fixing the potholes”, the man jokingly asks: “With f****** Coco Pops?” The so-called ‘council worker’ insists: “There’s only £6million to fix the potholes so this is a cheaper alternative.” When asked “You’re having a f****** laugh, aren’t you?”, the prankster remains completely straight-faced. He replies: “Look pal, you’re going to need to let me get on with my job.” He grabs an eight-pint carton of milk and starts pouring it onto the cereal while adding: “I’m just following orders!” The clip gained plenty of attention, with hundreds of thousands of likes and shares online. One commenter said: “Well they do fill a hole when your hungry so its a wonder the council round he[re] dont use them would do a better job than the mess they do with the tar” Another wrote: “My cereal of choice for this would be Weetabix once that hardens well we all know what it’s like getting it off a breakfast bowl” For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here .
