Man United can unleash Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha with clever £9m signing

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is "keen" to make the summer move to Manchester United , it has been claimed. He is available for a bargain fee this summer after the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League . United expressed previous interest in Ndidi last summer, when they had the chance to sign him on a free transfer. Instead, he signed a new three-year contract extension to remain with Leicester following their EFL Championship title win. However, the deal included a £9million release clause if the Foxes were relegated back to the second tier. As they finished down in 18th, picking up just 25 points from their 38 fixtures, he is able to leave for a cut-price fee. Now, his friend and former Nigerian international - Julius Aghahow - has opened up on Ndidi's future and claimed that while there is interest from Everton and Al-Ahly, he hopes to sign for a "big club like United". He said, via Africa Foot : "While Everton and Al-Ahly are clearly interested, Ndidi hopes to join Manchester United. He wants to take a step up by signing for a big club like Manchester United. "This would be an excellent move for someone I consider one of the best African midfielders of recent years. He's powerful, capable of pressing, winning back balls, and opening up the game with his long diagonal runs." Should Ndidi sign for United, he could well be the "dream" midfield partner for Bruno Fernandes. It is clear that the Portugal international prefers to drift forward and get into attacking areas. As Fernandes is expected to be used as one of the two No.8s in Ruben Amorim's system next season, he would be allowed more license to go forward if he is alongside a defensive-minded midfielder. Although Ndidi hasn't been at his best for a couple of years now, there is no doubt that, at one point, the Nigerian was among the best in the Premier League in his position. He is one of a kind. Signed as a replacement for N'Golo Kante at Leicester, Ndidi made the No.6 role his own, protecting the back-four with his physical and technical attributes. He has the potential to impress for United. A ball-winning midfielder, Ndidi's presence can help unleash the creative players - and afford them more freedom. Fernandes and Matheus Cunha are those that would benefit from Ndidi's arrival. First, Fernandes would be allowed more room to manoeuvre in midfield and space to drive forward in attack, also knowing that he has Ndidi behind him and shielding the central defensive three. As for Cunha, he would be given even more freedom to stay forward. Ndidi would cover so much ground in their midfield, leaving the former Wolves superstar with less responsibility in the middle third. It is a deal that would make sense all-round. United would be getting a player with more than 200 Premier League experiences for a cut-price, bargain fee. At 28, he still has a lot to give.
