Manchester City beat rivals to signature of highly-rated goalkeeper
@Source: independent.co.uk
Manchester City have re-signed goalkeeper James Trafford from newly-promoted Burnley for £27 million.
Trafford, aged 22, has agreed a five-year deal with an option for a further season, marking his return to the club.
City activated a matching rights clause from his previous sale to Burnley, securing his transfer despite Newcastle having agreed a fee for him.
Trafford's decision to join City is a setback for Newcastle, who had long targeted the goalkeeper.
His arrival is expected to provide competition for Ederson and may lead to the departure of current City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.
