Manchester United player ratings vs Leicester with two 8/10s as Matthijs de Ligt good
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.
Rasmus Hojlund finally ended his goal drought as he latched onto a Bruno Fernandes ball over the top before picking out the bottom corner.
Ayden Heaven had to be taken off on a stretcher early in the second half after he picked up an injury during an innocuous tangle. Alejandro Garnacho thought he had doubled United’s lead before his strike was ruled out for offside, but he eventually got his goal as he swivelled in the area and fired the ball beyond Mads Hermansen.
Bruno Fernandes rounded off a fine performance with a great strike in the final minute of normal time. Here are how the players rated at the King Power Stadium:
Andre Onana
Passed fit after developing an eye problem and kept dependably from Jamie Vardy's early sighter. Could have played with one eye closed. 7
Victor Lindelof
Had Vardy to contend with for the umpteenth time and is still his patsy. Involved in a mix-up with Onana and Vardy outmuscled him to create a chance for Facundo Buonanotte. 5
Matthijs de Ligt
His recent mini revival continued with a solid performance as Vardy preyed on Lindelof. De Ligt brilliantly blocked Buonanotte's goalbound chance on 75 minutes. 8
Ayden Heaven
Another imperious first-half performance from the teenager, who drew applause from the man he has replaced, Victor Lindelof. His night ended prematurely with a serious-looking injury. 7
Noussair Mazraoui
Played in a fine cross that a teammate failed to get on the end of. One errant pass played United into trouble but otherwise calm. 7
Manuel Ugarte
Bust a gut to sprint back into his own area and thwart Wilfred Ndidi on his first start in two weeks. Given a breather midway through the second half. 7
Bruno Fernandes
The most assured on the ball in the first half and quietly effective as the forwards claimed the headlines. Completed another 90 minutes. Quality goal. 8
Diogo Dalot
Returned to the left wing and was not as effective with a new foil in Christian Eriksen. Switched to the right after Mazraoui went off and crossed ideally for Fernandes. 7
Christian Eriksen
Smacked the post with an audacious curling effort from an innovative short corner routine. More polished after an iffy start. 7
Alejandro Garnacho
Had a shot on target that was easily gathered by Mads Hermansen. Strayed offside for a disallowed goal and then ended his 24-game drought to kill the game. 7
Rasmus Hojlund
Wout Faes dared him to shoot with his weaker right foot and Hojlund buried the ball in the back of the net. First goal in 22 games. 7
Toby Collyer
Rushed on after Heaven got injured and played in two different roles. 6
Got a run-out to help United see out the game. Lovely pass in the build-up for Fernandes' goal. 7
Joshua Zirkzee
Offered variety. 7
Harry Amass
Finally made his debut on his 17th matchday squad appearance. 7
Brought on with five minutes to play. 6
Made only two changes in an attempt to maximise the season-high performance against Real Sociedad. Everything went according to plan apart from Heaven's injury. 7
