From exchanging shirts to posing for pictures, the glittery meet-up between the Indian cricket team and Manchester United football club on Sunday, July 20, was an exciting affair for sports lovers around the globe. The meet-up united some of the leading stars, including United defender Harry Maguire and India’s mighty speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who greeted each other with great respect and admiration. Maguire gleefully swapped shirts with Bumrah and posted a thanking message via his Instagram feed for the excellent fast bowler, who has been in stellar form in the ongoing Test tour of England. ‘Pleasure to meet you,’ wrote Maguire on a story post, containing the duo’s picture talking to each other. Maquire enjoyed his time out from practice duties ahead of the start of the English Premier League season in August. In response, Bumrah echoed the sentiments, stating it was “great to meet you too.” Maguire seemed to have enjoyed sharing moments with the Indian players, who have time and again expressed their fondness for football, playing it during their training sessions, while also reserving special tributes to famous players after their milestones or wickets. During the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj dedicated a breakthrough to Portuguese player Diogo Jota, who died on July 3 in a fatal accident, leaving the sporting world in absolute despair over his passing. (X) Siraj was also seen rolling his arms over to Maguire, who tried his hand at batting with a wry smile on his face. The popular United player posted the amusing moment in a series of pictures. He also captured Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant trying to fetch a goal against United goalkeeper Tom Heaton. Maguire pulled Pant’s leg, saying Heaton “didn’t stand a chance” against him. Maguire and Manchester United recharged their batteries before a pivotal season where the Red Devils aim for their resurgence after a disastrous run last summer. Ruben Amorim’s men suffered their lowest ever finish in Premier League history, finishing 15th on the table, before also going down against Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League.
