An outstanding run by Melissa Jefferson-Wooden saw her win the women's 100m at Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia with the tenth fastest time in world history. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden is undeniably the best female sprinter presently, having proven it again with a new 100m world lead and the tenth fastest time in world history to win the Short Sprints category at Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia. Competing in the 100m and aiming for her third consecutive Grand Slam Track title, she lived up to expectations producing a jaw-dropping performance of 10.73s (1.4) for an outright win, far ahead of Tamari Davis in 11.02s, and Thelma Davies in 11.14s. Jefferson-Wooden's didn't just break her Personal Best (PB) but her time became the tenth fastest in world history. Consequently, her 100m win adds up to her stunning 200m victory on Day 1 of the Slam in Philadelphia, where she also clocked a brilliant PB of 21.99s to defeat Olympic champion Gabby Thomas. Jefferson Wooden has now won three Grand Slam titles, pocketing the huge sum of $300,000 from all three cities in Kingston, Miami, and Philadelphia. The Paris Olympics 100m medallist now stands as favourite alongside Saint Lucia's golden girl Julien Alfred in early predictions as the top challengers for the world title in Tokyo this summer.
