Messages of support Gethin Jones is getting proves what a legend his dad was

Welsh presenter Gethin Jones has been inundated with messages of support after announcing that his father, Goronwy Jones, has passed away. They have poured in after the BBC Morning Live host confirmed that his father had passed away on Monday, August 11. In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, the presenter talked about his father's love of classical music, the "importance of faith", his love of rugby and the fact that he had been a teacher for four decades and a headteacher for over two decade. The presenter also confirmed that his father had been "poorly for a while" and thanked the "wonderful" NHS staff at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for their care and treatment. In response to the moving tribute, many people shared their condolences and messages to Gethin and his family, some of which knew his father and shared fond memories. One Instagram user said: "I'm so sorry to hear this, sending you and your family my love. I remember your dad when he was the conductor of the South Glamorgan Junior Schools Orchestra. I was the 2nd violin strings section, a great character". While another said: "So sorry for your loss, fond memories of Mr Jones as my teacher in Baden Powell primary school". And another Instagram user said: "I'm so sorry to hear this news. Your dad was an amazing man, head teacher. "I worked with him in Baden Powell 25 years ago when I was a newly qualified teacher. He was so proud of you and your sister and I remember fondly the stories that he used to tell us about you both. May he rest in peace and his memory be eternal". Another penned: "RIP Mr Jones... your dad taught me for a short while and then at South Glamorgan Junior Schools & South Glam orchestra. He was an amazing, funny, kind man and has given me so many precious memories". While another wrote: "I'm sorry for your loss, Mr Jones was my headteacher when I was in primary school. He was a great teacher! One of the best!". And another had a very special memory of Mr Jones and shared: "Rest in Peace to a wonderful headteacher - I'll always hold fond memories especially being brought to his office on our birthday to have a sweet from the jar!" And Gethin's celebrity friends also shared their messages of support. "Oh much love, darling xxx," Russell T Davies wrote. While Sir Chris Hoy said: "So sorry to hear it mate, but heartwarming to see him surrounded with love." Gaby Roslin responded with: "Sending you so much love and my deepest sympathies to you and your whole family. I am so sorry Geth, but they always stay in our hearts forever". While The One Show presenter Alex Jones left a message in Welsh: "Meddwl amdano ti Geth. Loads o gariad atoch chi gyd" ['Thinking about you, Geth. Sending lots of love to you all'].
