AUSSIE golf star Min Woo Lee powered his way into the lead at the Texas Children's Houston Open on Saturday. The 26-year-old PGA Tour star, who's caddie is the popular Northern Irishman Brian Martin, surged at the Memorial Park Course in Houston. Lee slammed in to pull away from overnight leader Scottie Scheffler, who struggled with the putter after a sensational 62 on Friday. The world number one flatlined during the penultimate round as he failed to make headway on his overnight one-stroke lead. Texas-based Scheffler carded a underwhelming -1 round of 69 on a day where the course played its easiest ever since the has been hosted at the Memorial Park venue. Min Woo left on where he carried off earlier in the day, he was forced to complete his second round prior to teeing off in the final group alongside Scheffler. But he didn't slow down after starting a shot back from the two-time major winner. Lee had four birdies on his front-nine to make the turn in 31, and his started the back nine with a birdie on 10 before adding further birdies 12 and 14 during his blemish free 63 of -7 for a tournament total of -17. He's five-shots ahead of Scheffler, and four clear of Argentina's Alejandro Tosti, who sits on 14 under par in second place. Rory McIlroy is well off the pace after just making the cut, he carded a solid five under par round to sit on a total of nine under ahead of the final round. Lee's Caddie 'Bo' split with Irish PGA Tour Shane Lowry in January 2023 after a long-time partnership with the Offaly star. 'Bo' previously worked with LIV Golf ace Tyrrell Hatton, before finding a permanent home alongside talented Netflix Full Swing star. The duo have clearly formed a good relationship since striking up the partnership last year. Like many caddies, he’s a scratch golfer himself, out of Ardglass Golf Club in County Down. He is also the uncle of professional golfer Cormac Sharvin.
