Nigeria international Terem Moffi has returned to full training with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice seven months after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
A victim of a setback, Moffi was initially expected to return from a minor injury during the pre-season. He, however, suffered an ACL rupture in late July during a training session. The Super Eagles forward has spent eight months and two days on the sideline.
While Nice did not place a time frame on the period of the player’s absence, it was suggested that the 25-year-old may not feature for the French side during the 2024/25 campaign. However, L’Équipe journalist Romain Lafont, confirmed that the Nigerian had returned to full training.
“Terem Moffi and Morgan Sanson present at the Nice collective training this Wednesday,” Lafont wrote on X.
Moffi joined Nice from Lorient on a record €30m deal during the 2023 winter transfer window and has become an important member of the squad.
Since joining Nice, the 25-year-old striker has been quite consistent for Nice, registering 20 goals and providing five assists in 52 appearances.
His impressive performance for Nice has seen him linked with a move to Roma and Napoli, with both clubs seriously in search of a striker.
Nice’s next Ligue 1 fixture is an away trip to Le Havre on Sunday but the game may come too soon for the Nigerian as the club will adopt a cautious approach to avoid another setback.
