Oregon is tied for third after the opening round of the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional. The No. 5 Ducks shot 1-over 289 at Superstition Mountain Gold and Country Club on Monday. “Proud of our team for coming out and putting together a solid round here on day one,” Oregon coach Derek Radley said. “Regionals are tough and nerves can be high, and I thought our ladies did a good job of managing that and staying committed to our game plan. We need to stay focused, stay aggressive and find ways to play two more rounds of quality golf over the next two days.” Oregon enters the second round tied with No. 17 Auburn, three back of leader No. 8 Arizona State (2-under) and two back of Oklahoma State (1-under). The top five teams following Wednesday’s third round advance to the 2025 NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California from May 16-21. Big Ten Golfer of the Year Kiara Romero shot a 2-under 70 and is tied for third individually, one stroke back of Auburn’s Anna Davis and Cal State Fullerton’s Davina Xanh for the lead. Tong An shot 1-under 71 and Ting-Hsuan Huang and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham rounded out Oregon’s counting scores with 2-over 74s. Oregon was without all-Big Ten first-team selection Karen Tsuru, who is with the team as a substitute but has not played since late March due to injury. UO will tee off from hole No. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
