The stage is set for a spectacular opening ceremony at the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2024 on Sunday in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
According to the organizers, the two of Nigeria’s finest music superstars, Davido and Asa, will perform live at the highly anticipated event.
The ceremony will take plac at the MKO Sports Complex at 5.00 pm.
The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, who doubles as the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, expressed confidence that the festival will be one of the best organized in history.
“This is our own Olympics, and from start to finish, the festival must portray that global feel, both in competition and organization,” he said.
Olopade said the National Sports Commission and the Ogun State Government have put up a world-class event to mark the opening ceremony.
According to Olopade, Davido will close the ceremony, while Asa will start it.
“I might not reveal all, but I can tell you that Davido will be closing it up, and Asa will be starting it. However, I will not disclose what will be in-between.
“Nigerians should just stay glued to their television because they are about to witness an opening ceremony like never before,” he said.
The event promises to be an unforgettable experience, with world-class activities and cultural displays lined up to light up the Games.
The Gateway Games 2024 is shaping up to be a festival to remember, with top-notch preparations and planning in place.
