Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams has asked for resignation assurance from Barcelona before completing his move.
Barcelona and Nico Williams are determined to join forces. The winger informed the Basque club of his desire to move to Catalonia through his agent four days ago.
Barça, for their part, began calculations a week ago to manage the player's €58 million release clause. The board, led by Joan Laporta, intends to finalise the deal next week.
Nico Williams wants registration
Ahead of the move, the forward is demanding assurances from the Catalan club, as reported by Sportal.
Nico Williams wants to be sure that Barça can register him, as paying the release clause is one thing, but La Liga's approval is another.
The Dani Olmo case is still fresh in the minds of fans and players. Therefore, the Spanish international, who would sign with Barcelona until 2031, is adamant about joining the Catalan giants as soon as possible, but also wants guarantees, similar to his demands last summer.
Joan Laporta spoke confidently yesterday at a charity golf tournament organized by Ronald Koeman. The president clearly stated that Barcelona is meeting all La Liga and Financial Fair Play requirements to sign players this summer.
He even hinted at paying Nico Williams's release clause without mentioning the player by name. Javier Tebas, however, reminded them that the club still isn't complying with the 1:1 rule regarding equal income and expenditure.
