MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/. Kiev has not yet responded positively to Russia’s inquiry about the return of Kursk Region residents who were taken to Ukraine during the period of the temporary occupation by Ukrainian troops, Russian human rights ombudswoman Tatiana Moskalkova told TASS.
"We have not yet received a final positive response. We maintain dialogue with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Ukrainian side and hope that reason will have the upper hand and international norms on the return of resident of our Kursk Region to their families in the homeland from another country’s territory, from Sumy will be observed," she said.
On March 28, Moskalkova announced that 25 residents of the Kursk Region had been evacuated from Ukrainian territory although the negotiations were about the evacuation of more than 70 people. The ombudsman emphasized that Russia insisted on the return of all residents of the Kursk Region, who had been taken to Ukraine, but the Ukrainian side claimed that the documents were not ready. According to the ombudswoman, fifty Kursk Region residents are still remaining in Sumy.
