As a refreshed Real Madrid prepares to go again in 2025/26, one of its offensive stars’ next whereabouts remains unresolved. There’s no certainty that Rodrygo is staying at Los Blancos.
Monday is an important date—it’s when the Real squad returns to training after a three-week rest following its semifinal exit at the Club World Cup in early July. Rodrygo appears at ease, enjoying his vacation in Ibiza, but having played a bit part at the U.S.-hosted tournament, and with no guarantee he’ll fit into coach Xabi Alonso’s plans, he may be preparing for a big move away soon.
How much is he worth? Well, considering he’s contracted until 2026 and Real is not one to sell a proven 24-year-old on the cheap, he would come at some cost. Many estimators have the forward’s market value approaching the €100 million ($114 million) mark—probably fair nowadays. At Real, he adds balance to a side that has made space for Kylian Mbappé and has scored crucial goals in the Champions League.
On the other hand, he’s rarely considered the protagonist, and his output in La Liga has been good rather than excellent. A change of environment, where he has the credentials to be the main attraction, seems like a logical idea now. So far, reports have linked Premier League trio Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal to the Brazilian.

But where might the São Paulo native, who arrived at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu as an inventive 18-year-old in 2019, finally land?

Should he leave, Rodrygo will be a marquee signing wherever he ends up. In the running for pricy Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s priority should be a center-back. Yet there’s a void on the left wing after Luis Díaz’s €75 million ($86 million) jump to Bayern Munich. Although flexible positionally, Rodrygo has typically started from the right at Real, the same area Reds’ talisman Mohamed Salah plays.
As for Arsenal, it’s now reasonably well stocked in attack. Still, the Gunners are reportedly keen on Eberechi Eze, another forward-thinking player, and, similar to the Englishman, Rodrygo upgrades their options, especially if a deal for Eze doesn’t go through. Regarding a move to Spurs, Rodrygo would surely have plenty of opportunities and go down as a historic signing there.
Rodrygo’s ability is there for all to see. After Los Blancos defeated Manchester City in the Champions League in February, teammate Jude Bellingham was extensive in his praise. “For me, he’s probably the most talented and gifted player in the squad,” Bellingham said.
That much suggests he’s one of the most prized assets on the soccer market. Real is transforming, with Alonso trying to fit all the pieces together—not least new number 10 Mbappé—ahead of the side’s La Liga opener against Osasuna, knowing there will be no more practice games since the Club World Cup acted as a preseason.
Will Real regret losing a name like Rodrygo? The extent to which he re-establishes himself in the coming months will go some way to providing the answer. Assuming he moves on, that is.
