Onana Survives: Manchester United approach for World Cup winner rejected
@Source: pulsesports.ng
Manchester United have reportedly failed in a bid to sign a new goalkeeper to replace error-prone Andre Onana.
The Red Devils' surprising attempt to secure Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez on a season-long loan has been swiftly rejected, as the club scrambles to address their goalkeeping situation.
With Andre Onana sidelined for the Premier League’s opening matches due to a torn hamstring, manager Ruben Amorim is searching for a reliable shot-stopper.
Amorim has already brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford to bolster the squad, but there are still more holes to fill.

Over the weekend, United explored a loan move for the 32-year-old World Cup-winning goalkeeper, but Villa officials dismissed the proposal outright, according to the Daily Mail
Martinez, who signed a long-term contract with Villa last year that runs until 2029, offers no benefit to the club in a temporary transfer.
United are also considering Antwerp’s Senne Lammens but remain quiet on their next steps, while Villa insist no formal contact was made.
With Martinez valued at around £40 million—a price INEOS are hesitant to meet for a goalkeeper in the later stages of his career—it’s unclear how United will resolve their goalkeeping dilemma.
