THE Ondangwa Town Council is set to host the second edition of the Northern Namibia High Performance Sport & Innovation Center (NNHPSIC) Tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from Friday to Sunday.
Town spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said the multi-sport event will unfold across three venues in Ondangwa: the Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Soccer Field, the Oluno Correctional Facility, and the Airport Sports Field.
According to Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, the tournament aims to foster community spirit through sport.
“The event serves as a platform to unite sports enthusiasts and teams, while actively promoting a dynamic sporting culture within Ondangwa,” she said.
She added that a key objective of the tournament is also to generate excitement and public interest around the ongoing construction of the Ondangwa Sports Stadium—a significant future development for the town’s sporting infrastructure.
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha noted that participants will compete for various prizes across several categories, including Youth Soccer, Legends Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Netball, and Volleyball, ensuring a diverse and engaging program for athletes and spectators alike.
Beyond the competitive sporting action, she indicated that the tournament will also provide a valuable opportunity for local exhibitors to showcase their products and services in designated exhibition spaces, further boosting local economic activity during the event.
