One of the steamiest scenes in Bridgerton has been nominated (Picture: PA Wire/Liam Daniel/Netflix) The Oscars might have been and gone, but awards season is far from over. Following the coveted accolades handed out at ceremonies including the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards and the Sag Awards, the Bafta TV Awards are still yet to come in May. Today, the full list of nominees for the awards ceremony was announced, with shows including Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Baby Reindeer, Rivals and Slow Horses receiving recognition. One of the biggest prizes of the night is the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award – and this year’s winner could end up being the raunchiest ever given the nominees that have been announced. There are six scenes that have been nominated in the category, one of them being the unforgettable moment in Bridgerton that Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) have a steamy encounter in a carriage. The scene featured in the Netflix period drama set fans ablaze with passion when they watched it for the first time in May last year, particularly when many figured out how to turn on the audio description setting to make it even sexier. Rivals was not shy of its starkers moments (Picture: Disney Plus) But that’s not the only racy scene featured in this year’s Bafta moment of the year category. Last year, 80s comedy-drama Rivals blew viewers away when it debuted on Disney Plus, boasting a cast including Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson and Alex Hassell. Near the beginning of the series, Taggie O’Hara (Bella) stumbles across Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex) playing a game of naked tennis with Sarah Stratton (Emily Atack), a married woman who he’s having an affair with. While speaking to Metro, Alex confirmed ‘it’s all me’ after he decided to go full-frontal on the tennis court, stating: ‘It was discussed how comfortable I was whether or not it would be me or prosthetics or digital. But in the end, we just went for it.’ Full list of nominations for Bafta TV Awards 2025 The nominees for the Bafta TV Awards 2025 are… Leading Actor David Tennant – Rivals Gary Oldman – Slow Horses Lennie James – Mr Loverman Martin Freeman – The Responder Richard Gadd – Baby Reindeer Toby Jones – Mr Bates vs The Post Office Leading Actress Anna Maxwell Martin – Until I Kill You Billie Piper – Scoop Lola Petticrew – Say Nothing Marisa Abela – Industry Monica Dolan – Mr Bates vs The Post Office Sharon D Clarke – Mr Loverman Limited Drama Baby Reindeer Lost Boys and Fairies Mr Bates vs The Post Office Drama Series Blue Lights Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light Female Performance in a Comedy Anjana Vasan –We Are Lady Parts Kate O’Flynn – Everyone Else Burns Lolly Adefope – The Franchise Nicola Coughlan – Big Mood Ruth Jones – Gavin & Stacey: The Finale Sophie Willan – Alma’s Not Normal Male Performance in a Comedy Bilal Hasna – Extraordinary Danny Dyer – Mr Bigstuff Dylan Thomas-Smith – G’Wed Nabhaan Rizwan – Kaos Oliver Savell – Changing Ends Phil Dunning – Smoggie Queens Scripted Comedy Alma’s Not Normal Supporting Actor Ariyon Bakare – Mr Loverman Christopher Chung – Slow Horses Damian Lewis – Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light Jonathan Pryce – Slow Horses McKinley Belcher III – Eric Sonny Walker – The Gathering Supporting Actress Jessica Gunning – Baby Reindeer Katherine Parkinson – Rivals Maxine Peake – Say Nothing Monica Dolan – Sherwood Nava Mau – Baby Reindeer Sue Johnston – Truelove Children’s: Non-Scripted Disability and Me: FYI Investigates Operation Ouch! From last year’s series of The Traitors, the moment that’s up for the award is when Diane Carson revealed that fellow competitor Ross was actually her son, using her now-famous phrase: ‘Paul just couldn’t be my son… but Ross is.’ The moment that Diane revealed that Ross is her son will go down in British reality TV history (Picture: PA/Mark Mainz/Studio Lambert/BBC) Chris McCausland’s stunning dance to You’ll Never Walk Alone with his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell has also been recognised, as has a scene from the critically-acclaimed ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, when Jo Hamilton (Monica Dolan) discovers the huge amount of money she’s told that she owes. Speaking about the six nominees, Hilary Rosen, chairwoman of Bafta’s television committee, said: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to chair this year’s jury and steer passionate debate on the unforgettable moments that graced our television screens in 2024. Chris and Dianne’s stunning dance on Strictly blew audiences away (Picture: PA/Guy Levy/BBC/PA Wire) ‘The list includes heart-warming and heart-stopping surprises that got us all talking, and speaks to the power of great television to have real and lasting impact. ‘I’m intrigued to see which of these six moments will resonate with the public the most and the conversations they will continue to inspire.’ Previous winners of the Bafta TV Awards moment of the year include Paddington meeting the Queen for the Platinum Jubilee: Party at the Palace and Catherine Cawood and Tommy Lee Royce’s showdown in Happy Valley. An earlier version of this article was published on March 12. The Bafta TV Awards with P&O Cruises will air on Sunday May 11 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Got a story?
