Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their third successive game at the Chepauk and fifth in succession in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). MS Dhoni"s return as the skipper for the game saw his team collapse to an eight-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. With Ruturaj Gaikwad injured and out of the season, former India batter Kris Srikkanth has urged CSK to try Prithvi Shaw as a replacement. Advertisment Taking to his X handle, Srikkanth wrote, “One of CSK's worst defeats ever. Powerplay batting looked like a rehearsal for a Test match. Whole XI feels like it's running on nostalgia. Time to think out of the box; why not try some unsold players like Prithvi Shaw at this point? Would you try it? Even chaos is a strategy." One of CSK's worst defeats ever. The 25-year-old burst onto the scene as one of the best young talents and was compared to Sachin Tendulkar at one stage. Shaw led India to a win in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018 and made a century on his Test debut against West Indies. The right-handed batter also played for Delhi Capitals in the IPL before being released. In the last IPL auctions, Shaw went unsold and CSK could take up Srikkanth"s suggestion to sign the young batter. "We have to accept the challenge" – MS Dhoni speaks after CSK"s huge loss to KKR MS Dhoni"s start to life as captain of CSK for a third time was a complete disaster. Barring Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar none of the batters could score any runs. MS Dhoni himself scored just one run before he was out LBW in a controversial decision. CSK ended with a mere 103 on the board as KKR chased down the total with 59 balls to spare. Speaking at the post-match interaction, Dhoni said, “It has been quite a few nights that have not gone our way. The challenge has been there; we have to accept the challenge. Today I felt we did not have enough runs on the board. It has been the case over there; when we bowled in the 2nd innings, it stopped a bit; today it did in the first innings.” The 43-year-old also added, “Our openers are good openers; they play authentic cricket shots; they don't slog or look to hit across the line. It is important not to get desperate seeing the scorecard. If we start looking for 60 with our lineup, it will be very difficult for us.”
