Over 400 flights cancelled, 24 airports shut in India amid India-Pakistan rising tensions | Check list

New Delhi: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry informed that it has issued an order to close as many as 24 airports for civil flight operations as of Thursday evening. The decision has been taken after Pakistani missiles and drones attempted to target parts of Jammu Punjab Gujarat and Rajasthan and military bases. Indian airlines have also cancelled 430 flights leading to major disruptions in air travel. Meanwhile Pakistani carriers also cancelled more than 147 flights amid the escalating tensions. Several Indian airports including Chandigarh Srinagar Jaisalmer and Shimla were closed for civil flight operations. This closure is related to ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. List of airports shut in India Chandigarh Kishengarh Kangra-Gaggal Jaisalmer Pathankot Hirasa (Rajkot) Porbandar Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated on Thursday evening after Islamabad launched drone and missile attacks on areas within Jammu Punjab and Rajasthan. India successfully thwarted Pakistani drone and missile attacks that attempted to target several military bases including Jammu and Pathankot. The Indian Armed Forces also foiled a similar bid at 15 places in the northern and western regions last night as tensions further escalated between the two countries following Operation Sindoor. The Defence Ministry took to X and informed that several military stations in northern Jammu Pathankot and Udhampur near border areas were targeted but were neutralised successfully. Meanwhile the Border Security Force thwarted a major infiltration bid by suspected terrorists along the International Border in Samba district. Early Friday morning Pakistan initiated intense shelling along the Line of Control in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Poonch Rajouri Uri and Chowkibal Kupwara. This shelling resulted in property damage in Uri and Chowkibal Kupwara and one fatality was reported in Uri. It is noteworthy that Pak Army has been shelling along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The heinous terrorist attack claimed 26 lives of tourists.
