The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed overnight twice in the coming days — on Thursday and again on Tuesday — to allow crews to carry out concrete work for a new overpass at Tank Hill near Lytton.
According to DriveBC, the highway will be closed from 10 p.m. on Thursday until 9 a.m. on Friday, and again from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
The closure will be in effect between Lytton and Spences Bridge.
"Checkpoints with traffic-management personnel will be set up at the Highway 12 and Highway 8 intersections to provide travellers with information about alternative routes during the closures,” DriveBC said in a news release.
"Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times."
The Tank Hill area was severely damaged by flash floods following an atmospheric river in November of 2021.
Drivers are advised to use Highway 5 or Highway 3 as an alternate route while the closures are in effect.
