Former cruiserweight champion Joseph Kwadjo wants a fight with John Parker (former WBO world champion) next.
He indicated the possibility of fighting against Joseph Parker’s younger brother will depend on the result of his fight against Robin Hazelman this Saturday.
Kwadjo is adamant that he will last ten rounds against Hazelman at the Vodafone Arena in Suva in their cruiserweight contest for the Bluewater Boxing Promotions.
He said his fight against the Savusavu man was long overdue – they were scheduled to fight five years ago.
“I’m looking forward to going all of the ten rounds but if a knockout happens, it happens.
“I want to win this fight. After this fight, we’re planning to bring John Parker from New Zealand,” Kwadjo said.
The Ghana-born boxer is grateful there has not been any major challenges faced leading to this week’s showdown.
He added preparations and training are on track.
“My boxing academy boys and the boys from Uptown boxing gym have been helping me out and I’m grateful to them for pushing me in our sparring sessions.
“I want to challenge myself every day.”
Overwhelmed with the support, Kwadjo urges boxing enthusiasts to show up in numbers following a five-month hiatus of local boxing due to the tragic incident at the South Pacific Boxing Promotion in Nadi on October 26.
Kwadjo acknowledged the support from his team, the sponsors and the boxers in the Blue-water boxing promotion.
Meanwhile, Fiji’s cruiserweight champion Alifereti Kauyaca lost to Parker in a split points decision during their WBA (World Boxing Association) Oceania Title bout in October last year.
