Pete Wicks has been seen fighting tears as he spoke emotionally about his best pal Sam Thompson, who is said to have not had the 'easiest time' so far this year. The former TOWIE star was heard supporting his friend and co-host on their Staying Relevant podcast as Sam is set to undergo his biggest ever challenge at Soccer Aid for Unicef. As well as playing in the match, which takes place at Old Trafford on Sunday, June 15, for the England side, he's also taking on an epic feat in the lead up to the big game. From Monday (June 2), the former Made In Chelsea star will be undertaking five back-to-back endurance days of running and cycling to transport the Soccer Aid match ball more than 260 miles from last year’s stadium, Stamford Bridge in London, to this year’s arena, Old Trafford in Manchester. Ahead of the start of the challenge, a clip of Sam's conversation about what's ahead with Pete was shared on the Staying Relevant Instagram page and it ended with the pair sharing a tearful embrace. Sam is heard saying: "I really want to make the people that matter to me proud." Pete interjected: "I'm proud of you regardless, before you've even..." But when Sam said: "I haven't done anything yet!" Pete replied: "It doesn't matter! I'm proud of the person you are because being the person you are and being such a genuine, authentic and lovely guy is something to be proud of because there's a lot of people who aren't. "So, regardless of that, it's not about achieving anything or running and cycling or whatever else, you should be proud of yourself because you're an incredible human, point blank, regardless of any of that stuff..." Pete continued as Sam began to tear up and Pete soon followed, saying he would "bet his life" that Sam would successfully complete his challenge and not give up, before the pair hugged it out. Meanwhile, Sam's sister, Louise, also shared her own support on social media. The former Made in Chelsea star said alongside pictures of her, Sam, her partner Ryan Libbey and their son, Leo: "My brother has been quite quiet online this year. It’s not been the easiest time for him. "But he has been secretly squirrelling his energy into something big. Something much much bigger than himself, and he is about to show us just how strong he is." She continued: "Tomorrow he sets off from Stamford bridge (Chelsea FC stadium) with the soccer aid football on his back, journeying all the way up to Old Trafford in Manchester, completing over 5 marathons by foot and many many miles on a bike too. 260 miles in total!!!!! "He will be running and cycling from London to Manchester back to back this week. It’s a feat that I will never really be able to wrap my head around. And let me tell you us Thompson’s are NOT endurance people. So this will be hard. Hard x10000000. But hopefully the SIGNIFICANT cause will keep him going… and here’s the important part - it’s for an absolutely INCREDIBLE charity. "To raise money for UNICEF who protect the rights of children globally, especially those in crisis. Reading up a bit more about what they do has me in tears and I’ve had to stop because as a mother i’m both emotional and protective and I know just how important the formative years are in a child’s life. It’s reminded me how lucky we are to live where we do and it makes this whole challenge feel even more heartfelt and important now that I have Leo." She went on: "For Sam to be asked to do this is an ENORMOUS privilege and to say that I am proud is an understatement. It feels like a big responsibility and I know you feel the weight of that on your shoulders, but if anyone can do it you can. "I know you are scared, but I have no doubt you can complete this baby bro. The whole nation will be behind you…. They will pull you along, shin splints and all. Just visualise the marching. It’s a technique that really helps during the tough times. I’ve used it many times before. Imagine thousands of people marching behind you willing you on, rooting for you… even shouting! Go go go! You can do this!"
