The Philippines continues its firm stand in transitioning to greater reliance on renewable energy, under the Philippine Energy Plan 2023 to 2050 of the Department of Energy (DOE), according to renewable energy players in the country in a recent forum on Wednesday.Rungphech Rose Chitanuwat, country general manager of Informa Markets Philippines, the organizer of the yearly PhilEnergy Expo, maintained that clean energy would account for 35 percent of the country's energy generation mix by the year 2030 and for more than 50 percent by the year 2040.At the same time, he said there is noteworthy and significant growth and development in related energy sectors.Energy efficiency technologies and practices continuously gain support as public and private sectors work together to utilize energy more efficiently.Electric and power projects continue to abound to address scarcity and distribution issues, especially in the countryside.Electric Vehicles (EVs) are swiftly gaining traction as more vehicle users shift to electricity-powered cars, which are energy-efficient, emission-free, and now practically priced, thanks to the government's support through relevant legislation and policies. As the EV sector grows, so does the energy storage sector as the need for more efficient batteries (for various purposes) continues to rise."PhilEnergy Expo 2025 is the right platform that paves the way for showcasing the latest innovations and technologies as well as for discussing the most pressing and significant issues and developments that define today's evolving energy sector," Chitanuwat.PhilEnergy Expo 2025, which kicked off on March 19 to 21 at the SMX Convention Center, gathered local and international leaders, brands, organizations, and businesses from the energy and related industries (local and global) for the annual exposition and convention focusing on the revitalized energy sectors.Chitanuwat said that the annual PhilEnergy, anchored on its thrust for 'Shaping the Philippines' Energy Sector for a Sustainable Future,' remains an effective platform for highlighting the existing and potential collaborative efforts that propel "the clean energy revolution towards a sustainable and net-zero future."This year, the three-day show aimed to continue fostering the development of innovative renewable or clean energy solutions and related technologies that could shape the country's energy industry, particularly the production and utilization of electricity.Organizers of PhilEnergy Expo 2025 were proud that the event was endorsed by the DOE and supported by numerous energy-related organizations in the Philippines and outside the country, including Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance Inc. (PE2), Society of Philippine Electrotechnical Constructors and Suppliers Inc., Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, Developers of Renewable Energy for Advancement, Inc., Asia Pacific Urban Energy Association, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, Inc., Energy Industries Council, Mechatronics and Robotics Society of the Philippines, Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines, Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute, Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology, Center for Empowerment, Innovation, and Training on Renewable Energy, and Philippine Energy Professionals International Inc.
