Two women rushed to hospital 'in serious' condition after smash near Scots airport

Two women have been rushed to hospital after a horror car smash near a Scots airport. The two vehicle crash took place on the B979 between Fintry and Blackburn in Aberdeenshire on March 12. Police, ambulances and the Scottish Fire Service raced to the to the collision involving a black Vauxhall Mokka and a black Vauxhall Corsa. at around 2.40pm on Wednesday afternoon. The female drivers of both cars, aged 42 and 53, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Medical staff describe their conditions as serious. The road remains closed to allow for a probe into the crash to take place. Images from the scene show a police sign in the middle of the tarmac with ambulances and police cars flashing blue sirens in attendance ahead. Sergeant Peter Henderson said: "An investigation into the collision is under way and I am appealing to any road users who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us." They added: "Perhaps you passed or saw one of the vehicles prior to the collision. If you have dash cam, it may have captured images which could assist with our ongoing inquiries." Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1956 of 12 March, 2025. It comes as a man was rushed to hospital after a horror crash involving four cars in Edinburgh . Multiple emergency service units were called to the collision on Queensferry Road at 7.15pm on Friday, March 7. A 43-year-old man was rushed to hospital , with the other three drivers receiving treatment at the scene. The incident involved a Lexus UX 250H, Volkswagen Golf, a Peugeot 206 and a Renault Clio. Pictures show the cars scattered across the road, surrounded by several emergency vehicles and responders. One image appears to show responders working to free somebody from the wreckage of a silver car. A car bumper can be seen lying upside down in the road, surrounded by debris and broken glass. The road was blocked in both directions, with bus services forced to divert. Police Scotland have said their enquiries into the incident are ongoing. In a post on social media, the force's Edinburgh division said: "At 7.15pm on Friday, 7 March, 2025 officers were called to Queensferry Road, Edinburgh after reports of a crash involving four vehicles. "The collision involved a Lexus UX 250H, Volkswagen Golf, a Peugeot 206 and a Renault Clio. A 43-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The other drivers were treated at the scene. " Enquiries are ongoing." The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance, and dispatched three appliances to the scene at 7.19pm, leaving at 8.41pm.
