Follow the life of musician Pharrell Williams entirely in Lego Certificate: pg The story of the life of musician Pharrell Williams (he of the Oscar-nominated song Happy for Despicable Me 2) but done entirely in Lego? It sounds like the weirdest idea imaginable but Piece By Piece, directed by garlanded documentary maker Morgan Neville - who also features in Lego-form as an interviewer - is a joyful experience from start to end. As we learn more about Pharrell and how he sees music (as colours, shapes, and textures - he has synesthesia), creativity and the world, the decision to render his life as if it were a spin-off of The Lego Movie makes total sense, too. Even if you know nothing about him this is a soulful, family-friendly and very funny film that tracks one man's journey to harness his true self for his artistic work. And the scene in which Snoop Dogg appears as a Lego dog is hilarious, too. (93 minutes)
