PM ‘Deeply Disappointed’ with Stadium Pitch, Demands Full Explanation

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has expressed deep disappointment over the condition of the HFC Bank Stadium pitch during Fiji’s historic home test match against Scotland, calling it unfit for international rugby and demanding answers from the responsible minister.
“As your Prime Minister, I was deeply disappointed,” he said in a statement released today.
The highly anticipated clash, Fiji’s first-ever home test as a tier-one rugby nation, was marred by a poorly maintained playing surface.
“The surface was clearly not fit for an international match. Soft patches, uneven footing, and visible signs of damage were evident throughout the game. That is simply not good enough,” the Prime Minister said.
Mr Rabuka is now seeking a full explanation from the Minister responsible.
His concerns were further amplified after workers were seen preparing the same pitch for the OFC Women’s Nations Cup playoffs less than 24 hours later.
“This kind of overloaded scheduling with no time for proper recovery not only puts athletes at risk but undermines the quality of our international events,” he said.
“We must do better for our players, our fans, and our reputation on the world stage. This is not an issue we can ignore or brush aside.”
